Chief Finance Officer

Job Purpose
The job holder is responsible for all the Bank’s fiscal operating results utilizing generally accepted accounting principles.

The job holder will also be responsible for development and implementation of a financial strategic plan that will maximize income, while minimizing risks in order to achieve the strategic objectives of the bank.

Main Responsibilities


  • Counseling senior management and the board on fiscal control and profitability; prepares, presents and interprets financial reports to senior management and the Board; adheres to tax   laws and regulatory compliance to properly reflect the financial position of the Bank.
  • Work to protect the vital assets of the company, ensure compliance with financial regulations, close the books correctly, and communicate value and risk issues to investors and boards
  • Operate an efficient and effective finance organization providing a variety of services to the business such as financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, and other finance operations
  • Strategic balance sheet and capital planning partly based on regular dialogue with government and institutions like pension funds
  • Take a leading role impacting the economic landscape of the country through ongoing conversations with the relevant players in the field including other leading financial and government institutions
  • Reach the results by managing the departments Finance, Business and Data Analytics
  • Develop and implement a financial plan for NMB, and ensure it is aligned with company strategy and approved by the Board
  • Ensure execution of the financial plan is in accordance with financial management requirements including forecasts and reconciliations
  • Ensure adherence to the regulatory requirements within the banking environment
  • Develop NMB’s financial policies and procedures for recommendation to the Board
  • Work with other departments in the bank to ensure maximum investment returns are met with costs minimized, while managing investor relations
  • Collate, prepare and interpret reports, budgets, accounts, commentaries and financial statements and report
  • Ensure asset management policy and register are available, and up to date
  • Work with internal audit to ensure audit processes are successfully executed.

  • Sound understanding of the international framework related to risk and compliance (BASEL II, III, IFRS 9, ICAP) and its application to a specific organization, preferably a bank.

Qualifications and Experience


  • Master’s degree in Finance, Business (e.g. MBA) or related field gained from a recognized university or a Master’s degree in another area combined with business certifications from reputable international institutions
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in innovative financial services or telecoms with 5 years at senior management level
  • Accounting certification e.g. CPA/ACCA/CIMA
  • Post graduate qualifications in banking is an added advantage
  • Proven track record in financial services, telecoms or a leading audit firm

Head, HR Shared Services

Job Purpose
Head, HR Shared Services position is responsible for leading and managing activities to support HRIS, payroll, staff benefits, administration and the HR support center.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide vision, leadership, planning, project coordination and management for the development of a cost-effective department while concurrently facilitating efficient operations to meet current and future business needs within the HR organization.
  • Ensure continuity and successful delivery of functional services to users throughout the bank.
  • Analyze and direct all function-related activities within the scope of the Human Resources management system.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with HR constituents and customer base, serve as an interface between internal/external customers and functional team members to ensure effective definition of and delivery of HRIS/Payroll applications and provide overall prioritization of work assignments and management of functional team resources and their activities.
  • Promote proactive approaches using the bank’s HRIS to solve business needs/problems, while also enhancing the understanding and acceptance of the HRIS capabilities.
  • Oversee the production of the payroll both for temporary, permanent and senior employees, ensuring accuracy and timely payments of salaries to all NMB staff.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key internal and external stakeholders such as Finance, Tax, Legal, and governmental agencies/authorities.
  • Ensures timely and accurate remittance of statutory deductions to pension and tax institutions and other claims.
  • Directs, plans and manages HR Support teams in accordance with the bank’s strategic direction.
  • Delivers HR services, procedures and processes that are considered value added, measurable, directly tied to business objectives and aimed at increasing employee success and satisfaction.
  • Ensures there is a positive internal and external working relationship within the HR Support team and with external customers by frequently communicating and soliciting feedback with both parties and by measuring customer satisfaction.
  • Lead and participate on HR projects in support of the Bank’s Strategy
  • Manage and guide utilization of HR Budget and inform respective parties of any alarming deviation from time to time.
Skills and Knowledge

  • In-depth business understanding of end to end HR best practices, Banking Industry dynamics and demographics
  • Technical: In-depth expertise around Reward Management, HR Service Delivery / Shared Services processes, systems and operations
  • Behavioral: Building Positive Working Relationships, Communication, Contributing to Team Success, Decision-making, Formal Presentation, Planning & Organizing, Quality orientation and strong attention to details, intellectual curiosity, creativity, analytical acumen and a proven work ethic.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or related discipline. A post graduate qualification would be an added advantage
  • Minimum of seven years of solid, supervisory/ management experience in human resources operations, Compensation & Benefits Management and understanding of HR Principles.
